I have a youtube issue here that I can’t solve, and I’m throwing it out here at the off chance someone can help. For years I’ve uploaded home videos (as private) to youtube so that my family has an easy way to watch them on TV instead of on a phone or computer screen. I tried watching them a month or so ago, and they

That is good to know. I definitely have a stronger desire to play Starfield, as I almost always like Bethesda games, and didn’t get very far in FF15 because it just didn’t do it for me. I have also been an Xbox person ever since the Xbox 360/PS3 generation. It’s not because I’m a fanboy, it’s mostly because I like the

Don’t most people buy flat-bottom woks anyway? I know there are rings to try and use round-bottom woks on standard cooktops, but that just seems like too big of a hassle to me.

I think maybe the difference is in how the pan is heating. It was the NYT tester’s experience that outside of the central area, the pan was cool and didn’t cook very well. As you are probably aware, induction works by causing the pan to get hot, the induction coils themselves don’t. With a gas stove the heat

I have a gas dryer. They are no more expensive to purchase than electric ones, and operate more efficiently. I’m not saying we shouldn’t switch to electric, we should, but that is a truth. Gas water heaters are also not very expensive compared to electric.

Gas dryers and furnaces are automatically vented to the outside in all situations, and require no action from the user to vent them when they turn on.

It’s really too bad Starfield and FF 16 are exclusive to two different consoles. I have yet to purchase a current-gen console, and am interested in playing both of those. Since having kids a decade ago I don’t game very much anymore, so I can’t really justify two systems anymore.

If you’re lucky enough to have a real, multi-burner, built-in induction stovetop, those always have at least one 12" burner, which is also twice as powerful as the 8" (3600W v. 1800W) - that is the finest culinary heat source humankind has yet conceived.”

You should meet my house that still has a fuse box from 1958.

To me that seems like a temporary workaround. I’d imagine most grown adults prefer having a full size oven and range so that their options aren’t limited.

I don’t know about that, I’ve seen bathroom fans vented to attics as well. That said, I wouldn’t think the stove being vented to the attic would cause air quality issues in the rest of the house.

Someone else pointed out a 220v line without explaining what that is. If you’ve ever seen an appliance with one of those giant, non-standard plugs that goes into a giant, non-standard outlet, that is it. If your kitchen has one, you’re good to go. If not, you’d need to install one.

I don’t dispute the issues with gas stoves and would like to move to induction someday. I do have to comment on your mention of outdoor wok cooking though; Not all of us live in places that this is pleasant to do in the winter.

I suspect that lobbyists will ensure that there is never an outright ban. I suspect that what we will see at most is a requirement for new gas installations to have proper ventilation, which is something that should be law anyway.

Do you find it works with larger pans? I was considering buying a portable burner like that, and was reading an NYT’s review of their top picks. One thing they mentioned is that none of them worked well with larger pans, and that the edges of the pans don’t get hot. My most frequently used pan is a 12 inch skillet, so

I think the headline must be an error, and should say “nearly $2/hr”. I was confused like you are. Depreciation of $2 per day wouldn’t be that bad at all.

Maybe try using flannel sheets instead of percale or sateen in the winter. When there is flannel on the bed it rarely feels like crawling into an ice den.

I cook on gas but look forward to making the switch to induction in the future. I’d do it now, except I don’t have a 220 outlet in my kitchen, and the way my house is set up makes installing one costly. I do have an over the range microwave that vents to the outside. It’s rated at 300 CFM, which probably isn’t as

That is awesome, and I give mad props to you for it.

But I also can’t think of a single person I know that looks forward to eating at a rest stop on a highway.”
