I sit my butter on top of the stove while the oven preheats. The heat from this usually softens it very quickly. If it’s a warm sunny day I’ll sometimes sit it in the kitchen window sill if it’s getting direct sunlight, that also softens it quickly.

Most of these options are quite disgusting if people other than you ever use your glassware. Imagine giving someone a fork from your drawer and telling them not to worry, you rinsed it in hot tap water and that should be good enough.
