I got the horsehair comment as a child! I didn’t have a haircut until I was six, and by that time my hair was past my butt. I still remember the hairdressers not knowing what to do with my head, and my mother (I’m adopted) would just ravage my scalp when ttrying to do my hair.

She’s not exactly...skilled...when it comes to deflecting hits. This reeks of “skilled person finds person with better skills and retreats into a bubble.” Train. Do better. Don’t be a sore loser, because as much as people are being obnoxious for mocking her, she’s being equally so for her incredulity.

I use Jelly Soft Curls on top of a leave in conditioner; after years of shitty mousse, dry shampoo, and conditioners that couldn’t combat my mighty frizz, it was amazing.

The chain that gave us the most flak quoted something along the lines of an extra 15k per store. It wasn’t CVS, but they weren’t exactly much better.

I’m not crying, YOU’RE CRYING

I’ve spent 12 years in advertising and marketing, and slotting is such bullshit. For a former client, we once did a cross promotion where our (food) product was planned to be slotted in the drug aisles. It was a gag that worked out really well, but it was a pain in the ass to get a store to switch planograms for even

Believe it or not, women’s hair is a fucking battlefield. Women of all races need these kinds of products-hell I’m translucent and have extremely coarse, curly hair that doesn’t respond to the regular shit that is allegedly designed to work for me.

Miss Jessie’s has been a lifesaver for me (also Mixed Chicks leave in conditioner), but yeah, at least 20 bucks a pop for ONE hair product is insane.

There are also a multitude of articles (even on Politico!) that praise her ground game. It was lauded as comparable to or superior than Obama in 2008. At the end of the day, some people didn’t show up, and stats illustrate that they bear the burden of responsibility here. Long story short, if we were willing to fall

Obama won those states because two groups showed up to vote: Young people and African Americans. Surprisingly, they sat this one out, and we are now dumbfounded as to where we are in this country. They knew the stakes. They didn’t vote. Fuck them, and fuck everyone that couldn’t see beyond the glaring differences of

Fuck the Midwest for not getting off their sorry asses to vote. Fuck them for prioritizing feelings over facts. Fuck them for picking their noses over emails instead of finding the truth.

This is where I also think that the attitude of “well we were told to do it, so you get to now” isn’t really helpful. I get it. I struggle with what is considered the “right” version of activism and progressivism , and could go on a mighty screed about how that very notion put us in a position where we argue about

In most of social policy, this is the crux of it. People relate to what they know. It’s why men relate to violence against women with pleas to their daughters and mothers. It’s why we mention that ::insert status:: friend when we speak to equality.

For some people, it’s very jarring to be told more or less to simultaneously shut up and speak out. And I honestly think that this is more a product of Internet boards than actual human contact.

Agreed. And it helps that the GOP has next to nothing to lose here. They will be in power one way or the other, and they are perfectly content with letting the people and the Democrats do the dirty work for them.

Although I completely agree with you that Rubio needs to grow a spine, A LOT of legislators have full boxes just because of the sheer volume and frequency of calls. Which in and of itself should be a hint that “maybe I should address this.”

Every damn time I see an article like this on Deadspin, I go back to check that post and wonder if these writers have ever internalized that their crappy holier than thou and disaffected attitudes were a MASSIVE contribution to where we are now.

Meh, I was pretty mercilessly bullied for the vast majority of ages 6-16. The ONLY thing that would stop it wasn’t telling and it wasn’t running. It was refusing to give my tormentors what they wanted. It’s not as fun to bully when there isn’t a reaction.

Ha! I was also afraid of escalators, but only the “down” variety. I think it was the combination of going down coupled with looking up at myself in the mirrored walls that were so popular in the 80s/ early 90s. Also, I was five. 45 needs to see a child psychologist.

I mean, nearly all denominations of Christianity are this way, and the comment about less white folk just seems...out of place...considering the abuses we see committed in the US in the name of God or Jesus. It’s the Abrahamic religions worldwide that advocates this shit.
