It’s why America preaches so much and so loudly. Because the second we hear the silence, the soul-crushing silence, we are forced to confront just how lonely and broken and ashamed we really are. We know that this isn’t normal; we also fear and thus reject the work that it takes to be well.

Because the people who shout ‘not muh guns!1!one!’ are often times the same people who insist that free/low-cost (mental) health insurance is an entitlement only afforded to those who have bootstraps from which to pull themselves up by?

Having lived in multiple countries in Europe, in addition to Japan and Korea, there is a civility and mutual respect shown to others that just does not exist in this country. If you happen to bump into someone on the street in Japan, you’ll get an apology, even it was your fault.

How have so many other countries managed to eliminate mental illness so that they don’t have remotely the mass shooting problem we do?

Yeah, because identifying and fixing the broken people, instead of just taking the tools that allow them to go on a rampage away from EVERYONE, but leave the broken people walking around, is such a fucking stupid idea...

Clearly you don’t

Instead of the knee-jerk “Fuck the NRA!!!! DO SOMETHING ABOUT GUNS!!!!!” why don’t we ask what causes a kid to think that going into a school and shooting it up is the reasonable and appropriate course of action, and fix THAT?

I’ve read different news outlets report that this is the 15th through 19th school shooting. In other words, we have already lost count and it’s February.

Cue all the “prayers and thoughts” social media posts.

Thoughts and prayers were reported near the scene at 3:20 PM today.

Not sure if this is a popular opinion - but I like it quite a bit.

Important lessons:

Most asshats can barely drive a regular car! Flying cars? No thank you.
