I feel sad thinking about what it must be like to live a day in her shoes; on the other hand–I’m only human–those vids and pics are hilarious!

Hello Angela, I’m a teacher at a High School in Mesa, AZ. When the pledge starts, I say, “Whooo America!”, and lazily flap my hand in the direction of the flag as if I’m shooing a bee away. I don’t stand for the pledge, I don’t put my right hand on my chest for the national anthem, and I don’t pester the kids about it.
When I think about how some people believe that, I feel saddened.
I have asperger’s and my superpower/weakness (not tired, stable blood sugar/tired, low blood sugar) is sound. I also can’t filter out certian pitches of sounds or parts of other conversations of people 20 feet away; it’s like an icepick into my ear that disrupts my being. I don’t have control of it and the more I want…
When I read this, I thought “OK, decent news. I can meditate on that.”
In some states, it is all a teacher can do.
I have a BFA, 33-hours of Post-Bacc preK-12 Art Educator Certification, and 15 hours Graduate School Hours; I teach 207 (as of today) students, a 14-yr old told be to “back the fuck off bro!” today when I asked her to go to her seat (I teach ceramics, btw...).
I’m so sorry this stuff has happened to you. When I read this I felt heartbroken and angry about the violence you have been subjected to.
I taught a group once that had a kid in it that went ballistic when I asked him to write his name on a folded piece of paper to keep his project in. Screaming, throwing things, running around, diving under desks, and shaking tables. He had an aide with him, she escorted him out–he was 8.
I teach 206 high schoolers a day; I’m legally responsible for two-hundred and six children, a day. I also believe in what I do, so I’m developmentally responsible to 206 humans in a day. Everything I say and do as an educator, a male, an ‘authority’ figure, a naturalized citizen, and a minority in my diverse school in…
Hello friend. How are you today? When I read your comments, I wondered why you expressed a desire for the teacher to be fired? Would you be willing to help me understand your thoughts? Also, I like Lego too! :)
I interpret what he said as, “Man, I got lucky. I look up to how much of a goddess she is, I hope I can be as inspirational as her.”. :)
That is funny.
Can’t star this enough. I agree to a, shall we say–for the sake of the pun, to a religious extent... :)
I like different cultures and opinions. I like to think about context and relevancy.
Oh, I’m sorry; purely platonic on my end. *hugs*
I love you.
It’s a joke. Everything will be just fine. It’s okay to laugh.
