I can’t tell you the last time I played one of the free monthly games. I sub entirely because you need it to play online. Is that worth $80 a year to me? I genuinely don’t know. GamePass is a much better value - I actually play several GamePass games - and I’m paid up through 2026.

I’m out. The “free” monthly games have been going downhill, and honestly I haven’t even turned my PS5 on since Ragnarok. Tell me Ragnarok and Spider-Man 2 are coming to PC, maybe hook me up with a PC port of Ghost of Tsushima, and I could get rid of my PS5 entirely.

Before I had kids, I never really understood the draw of phone games. It isn’t just the easier pick-up-put-down, but there’s intangible vibes too - I can be on my phone and still in the mix parenting, but the vibe of sitting on the couch with a controller while kids run amock just isn’t good optics.

It’s not surprising. There’s a reason everyone is in a hurry to move to microtransactions and live service games. You can only sell a full game once, but you can sell gacha pulls and battle passes forever.

Thanks for the spoiler. I would have found this to be an interesting surprise for a character that has so far not shown any particular romantic interest in anyone.
