It’s possible to benefit from a system and still think the system is broken. Example: you can’t control if you’re born white; you can acknowledge and be mad about how being white advantages you in this country.

That’s the point. The tweet about an empty bank account, sent by a company that only exists today because it was bailed out by the government, is tone deaf.

I think it’s not so trivial that a bank, headed by a CEO who was just called in the carpet by a member of Congress for paying unlivable wages to tellers would have a corporate culture wherein one of the very likely underpaid social media team elected to hit send on that tweet.  I think that is worth talking about.

Because the people who are chiding folks who can’t afford to buy a house or save any money are the same people who are causing the problem. They do this by charging exorbitant fees for banking, by redlining many communities, by literally breaking the economy and never making any reparations for it, and by charging…
