What a jackass. He grew up in federally subsidized housing, but rather than being grateful for that, he uses it as evidence that he “earned” every penny. Uh huh.

I think it’s fair to point out that the administration and Congress didn’t pursue codifying abortion rights when they could have. We have been let down by elites in both parties.

To be fair, that part of the story is not clearly written. I’m sure a number of readers read it as if Robinson was making the misogynist argument (he wasn’t) rather than characterizing the legislature’s argument as misogynist. I puzzled over it for a minute, myself.

Not so much a fact check as a fact shell game.

And we know that nobody could possibly see a part-time job as an essential component of their income “just to survive”. Of course, everyone makes enough in their full-time job to survive, right?

Are you saying there’s no way real to tax wealth as opposed to income (other than property tax)? Because there certainly is. The most important tool is the inheritance tax (or death tax, for Republicans). The tax cut for the wealthy also entailed a cut to the inheritance tax (ostensibly so those poor, salt of the

Aside from the obvious, the thing that struck me about the article was the sexism. Jane Sanders is a smart woman with a PhD who has held a number of responsible jobs in her lifetime. Somehow she comes across as the very junior partner in their (private and financial) life together.

Poor Politico. Now that Edward-Isaac Dovere has left and taken his series of thinly sourced hit pieces on Bernie over to The Atlantic, the Politico editors need to find someone to take his place.

Now THAT’s a story. Why didn’t they make that the headline?

I thought I was pretty cynical, but I’m actually kind of shocked by a couple of your points. Do you really see so little difference among the Dem candidates that it doesn’t matter which becomes the nominee? And is personal ambition the only motivation you recognize in the candidates?

This was an enjoyable piece, Libby. Nothing like a little snark to counteract my rage at the “elites”.

But the DNC DID try to snuff Bernie’s candidacy out. They just failed. Regardless, since 2016, he’s been the Outreach Chair on the Senate Dem leadership committee, where he’s been “working to change the values of the party the way it has been done for decades.” That is, from inside the caucus. Not that it generally

So we can advocate for the best thing we can, or the second best or third best ... or a return to the wretchedness before the ACA. What I’m reading in many of these comments is that we should advocate for the second or third best, even though it might pre-empt the best, because that’s all we can have. Or all anyone

The yearbook caption says he “earned the respect of his Brother Rats” and I believe it.

Sometimes it was worse.

I hope the school doesn’t expel them. Neither the school nor the boys should get off that easily.

If you didn’t already know how old Bernie is, I don’t think you’d mind his age at all. He’s smart, willing to go up against anybody, and he’s clearly healthy as a horse.

You understand that someone can’t walk into the ER and get an annual physical, right? Or a cancer workup if they have a stomach ache? People who can’t go to the doctor because they have no insurance, can’t afford copays, or don’t get paid sick days actually die because their cancer gets diagnosed at stage 4, not at

Some people had families before the economy crashed, and now need to support them.

Fair point! Thanks for keeping this in front of us. I’d love to see a follow-up with more on how WE can help put pressure on. Thanks!
