Perhaps when this episode was shot, the goal was to convey a meta message about image perception by featuring an artist with his own terrible public persona. If so, that wasn’t clearly expressed.

Just because she isn’t getting a salary, doesn’t mean she won’t get income or benefit from our tax dollars.

Well, except I’m sure you don’t need me to tell you that the reality of the Genovese murder is not very much like the myth, and that her neighbors did call the NYPD that night. Some of them even went to her aid as she was dying. This documentary is really good, and it’s usually up on Netflix.
