Yeah, but the Luke Scream when he steps off the platform rather than surrender to Vader undercuts the whole point of the scene. And, as mentioned above, they change the badass “Bring my shuttle” scene.

My Dad took me to see the movie when I was a kid as a reward for learning to ride my bike. The whole movie was brutal. But when that sad li’l robot sacrificed itself, I had to be hauled absolutely WAILING from the theater. I was inconsolable. I watched the rest of the movie through the window slat of the door leading…
The Good Dinosaur was fascinating to me because up to that point, it was the first Pixar movie that really didn’t work. (Cars 2 is horrible, but then again, its sole point was to make money, and to that degree, it succeeded). It was just a mess of a concept from the beginning. In fact, it bears a striking similarity…
My wife was alarmed that he asked Ralph to join the case and help out, just like Jack did.
I missed a lot of the formative blockbusters of that era (this, ROTL, TOD, and Poltergeist) because they sounded way to scary for me as a kid. One time, way after it had come out, I was trapped at a birthday party where they were showing it. After the Gardner scene Miller talks about above, I just went into the next…
“Well, it’ll keep those shits from wanting to go to the hot fuckin beach at least.”
Ebert’s Jurassic Park review is up there with his Die Hard review as one of his great misses, IMHO. He just didn’t account for what a massive risk it was to let CGI do so much of the heavy lifting: in a way, that was the Jaws-like obstacle in filming this movie. He was carving out completely new ground, and had to…
I have a log of “snail butter” (two sticks salted plugara, minced shallot, 4 minced garlic cloves, parsley, black pepper, white wine) in the freezer that I lop hunks off of and mount into pan sauces and it’s amazing stuff. Just makes everything taste (and smell!) old school, hardcore French. Last night I made pasta…

Also, the movie came out over Thanksgiving weekend, when most of the audience is gonna have a belly full of tryptophan, and you honestly expect them to watch an entire 3:30 movie?!
DeNiro does get that ring . . .
That was our problem with it too. My wife and I had to keep asking what year it even was, because even with de-aging, they still look and move like old coots. I can’t imagine seeing this on the big screen, because even on the small screen the effect was distracting. DeNiro’s eyes seemed like they changed color.
Is there a distinction to be drawn between a “theme” album, like Sinatra’s Only the Lonely, and then a proper concept album? I always think that concept albums add up to a larger story.
Beck had a fantastic run; I loved almost all of his albums to one degree or another up until Modern Guilt. Then he just seemed to hit a wall and I haven’t been able to connect with anything he’s done since. I don’t really get the love for morning Phase when Sea Change is RIGHT THERE. This new single does nothing for…
The original name, the Persephone, was struck down early in the creative process.
I say this every time a SW game comes out but they could’ve just picked right up with the Dark Forces series and kept cranking those out every year. I never get tired of them.
FIVE years?! That’s two Terminator reboots from now!
Man I can’t even watch his old shows anymore. After it happened, I never watched any episodes again; the rest of the season sat unviewed on our DVR. I did get lulled into reading his Les Halles cookbook once, and a few pages later I realized why I felt weird about reading his book and got sad all over again.

Still not over it.
