I listen to Bjork regularly, and that includes the recent albums (barring Volta, which is her weakest album for me)

Also, Max totally reminds me of Jenny Lewis’s character from The Wizard.
Max’s “derivative” line got a chuckle from me, at least. Self-deprecating meta-humor is practically half the comedy aspect of shows like Bojack Horseman (the other half being great sight gags and animal puns)
Curious if you ever played the original Silent Hill? There’s a boss battle that’s pertinent to your fears.
Does anyone remember that hologram game from the early 90s? I think the gameplay was pretty similar to Dragon’s Lair. A quick google search tells me it was called Time Traveler. I always saw that one at my local mall arcade but never got to play it since the line was so long.
Since I just played it recently, I’ll add The Eclipse from Horizon Zero Dawn. I can’t say anything about the plot in this game surprised me, really, but I did think it was effectively paced and presented. And to learn that this cult was trying to raise and control an entirely more dangerous and life-ending robot army…
Yes, they are. This show is criminally underrated.
Anybody watching FX’s The Exorcist? Since there are no proper TV reviews for it here, I’m not really sure where else to talk about it with AV Club nerds.
I’ll be doing all my partying this weekend, which means Halloween proper will actually be open for me. I plan on checking some of these out, thanks for the list.
I’ve been meaning to start watching this soon since I generally like Nick Kroll and his usual troupe of comedian buddies (particularly Jenny Slate), but I’ve been seeing a lot of pearl clutching over this series for its portrayal of sexuality/anatomy of minors. I’m guessing it’s really being overwrough, though, since…
I think this is where I’m leaning right now. This is a great subject for the show to cover, but it would have been served better by a full 3-minute video rather than a 30 second title theme.
What does everyone think of the new theme song? I was wondering when the Carrie Underwood parody was coming, but I almost wish it had just stayed with that concept. Based on Rebecca’s reaction at the end, I’m guessing it was intentionally confusing.
I happen to be listening to the new Jessie Ware now. Much stronger thanthe forgettable Tough Love, but Devotion still blows it away.
I appreciate the mobile port for fixing bugs as well as normalizing item/spell names (i.e. Phoenix Down instead of Fenix Down, Holy instead of Pearl, etc.), but you’re right that visually it was a downgrade.
I’m still struck by just how different FFVI’s pixel art is to everything that came before it. FFI-V had such bright, saturated color palettes, but FFVI’s palette is so much more muted and almost watercolor like.
After not playing it for quite some time, I’m back in the thick of Persona 5. I’m at the casino palace, and since that was the framing narrative for the majority of the game, I’m assuming that means I’m nearing the end of the game. I’m disappointingly behind in many Confidants, having only reached level 10 in 2 of…
Gosh, I love the cheesy earnestness of the Kylie Minogue version, and in fact, much of the Stock-Aitken-Waterman productions from the late 80's. I will fully admit that it’s all bubblegum pop trash and I love it anyway.
Ah, I stand corrected then.
That’ll be great! I saw Depeche Mode a long time ago...2001ish? One of my first concerts ever, actually.
I saw Janet Jackson in concert last night, and had a blast. She is incredibly energetic, and she still has those great dance moves. Moreover, and this is just gonna be a bit of gushing, she closed her main set (i.e., before the encore) with “Rhythm Nation” and seeing an arena full of people freak out over a song…
