In case some of you guys don't transfer over, just wanna throw in my appreciation to you all for making this really the only online community I can even stand participating in. You always keep things scintillating!
This post stayed up for a whole two hours before I realized I used the word "etiquette" when I meant "eloquent." La vergüenza!
Yeah, I really love this series, but I've always wished that it would trust the exploration-puzzle solving-platforming gameplay that so many people actually love these games for. I used to feel that way even about the original Tomb Raider games too.
This is such an eloquent summary of the series, nailing its charms and its flaws.
That's an interesting thought. I think the fall from grace was more severe and sudden with Sonic. Mortal Kombat had already seen a tepid response to MK3 by the time MK4 came about to rip the spine out of the whole franchise. Sonic was a beloved cultural icon that rivaled Mario's popularity. And then, suddenly…he was…
I'm confused about what statement you two are responding to. I don't see Dan suggesting that all lesbians crave cock.
This is cool, but what I really wanna know is will the Santa Ana Winds be back?
I can't be the only one who used to repeatedly pause the game to try to get the "perfect ball" frame of Sonic's rolling animation, right?
Ehh. *so-so hand gesture* Well, I agree that even the original games are kind of overrated, since the hi-speed gimmick is pretty at odds with 2D platforming design in general, I still had quite a blast with them. The times when you're able to hit top momentum and stay there for a while were pretty exhilarating.
"If" by Janet Jackson is, like…top 5 material for me for songs from the 90's
Well, the "best Sonic ever made" is actually a pretty hard commendation to ignore, so I guess I'm going to be checking this out. I'm of the crowd that really didn't follow this series after Sonic 3 or so, but if this is even better than those early titles, then it sounds like a good time to me.
Thanks to an episode of Adventure Time, strangely enough, I knew what it was.
It's not a terribly great or deep game, but I genuinely loved the moments in Layers of Fear in which the layout of the house would change when you turned around, like doors disappearing, hallways moving around, etc. I love the whole concept of impossible spaces and structures. It's even a recurrent theme in dreams…
I actually liked Vlodimir! He's a boorish, attention-seeking oaf, for sure, but I really enjoyed seeing Geralt act that way, it was pretty hilarious.
I actually work and live really close by to where this is all happening. There were 15 cop cars for security purpose when I counted. How ridiculous that this many people are gathering to see it like it's some kind of performance or meet and greet
Sided with Olgierd in the end. The guy is an asshole, for sure, but I kind of felt bad for his curse.
I finished up The Witcher 3: Hearts of Stone this last week, so I'll be moving on to Blood and Wine next. Hearts of Stone had such good writing! It's pretty telling that of the two main characters of the DLC (Olgierd and Gaunter), I kept going back and forth throughout the story on which one I was more sympathetic…
I feel like this is an appropriate place to discuss how batshit the character designs got as the series went on. It stayed somewhere around MK3 (why is Sub Zero unmasked and wearing dance tights now?) and hit its nadir in the PS2 era (why is Sub Zero an ice zombie now?). Bless MKX for bringing a lot of the costumes…
So, what's the code to activate the Nudalities?
