Reminds me of the days of Battlefield 1942 modding. There was an awesome group working on a G.I. Joe mod. It was really excellent with a bunch of the vehicles you know and love from G.I. Joe in the game.
Saw them play live when I was a freshman in high school with They Might Be Giants. Awesome show. The Femmes had everyone standing up in the aisles dancing.
Not really the same at all, but had a few similar type things with my yellow with black stripes 1973 Mustang Mach 1 which I tried to make my daily driver (it would have worked if the frame wasn't rusted to hell).

They've been doing this for a long time. I remember one of the better heavily armored ones that was made, had one major fault. They forgot to armor the tires, so the cops just shot out the tires and it became more of a immovable bunker than an APC.
