So here’s a question: if bacteria has nothing to feed on, what if you open a bottle of water, take a few sips, and seal it up again? How long does that stay good for? I’m guessing it’s different if it’s refrigerated after vs not? I always assumed that opening the bottle and taking a sip introduced oral bacteria that

Hey, here’s an interesting idea: maybe he recognizes that there’s literally nothing he can say that doesn’t perpetuate a “he said / she said” story, and maybe he actually did have an agreement in advance with the interviewer (whose name throughout this article is apparently “The Root”, which is also telling) and was

Coming full circle, I was *not* a fan of 11/22/63. To me it falls into the “somebody get this guy a decent editor he’ll listen to before he writes again” category. I never, ever need to see the word “obdurate” in print ever again, he used it enough for a lifetime.

I guess “The Mist in 3D Sound” doesn’t really qualify as an audiobook. If it did it would probably top this list. Put it on with headphones and lie down in a dark room (especially effective because a lot of the story takes place in the dark) and find yourself in the middle of that world. It still has the magic that’s

I read through a bunch of the comments. Some accuse you of revisionism. I don’t think that’s the problem, exactly. I think the problem is that this is a near impossible assignment.

GenX had a more explicit mission statement than any other generation: “Generation X” by Douglas Coupland. Though the term had been used before, it was this book that labeled that generation and defined its ethos. It was the first generation that genuinely believed it would never have it as good as their parents did.

I didn’t take it as glorifying “old Hollywood grit.” I took it as Tarantino literally acting out a revenge fantasy against people whose actions ultimately made the whole world a darker and scarier place for an entire generation. I found it cathartic and heartbreaking all at the same time.

CapitalOne did NOT notify me of the data breach. They did send an email saying my account was locked and I was going to have to unlock it (by jumping through several security hoops online) but with no further explanation. That was July 8. I have a very “common” email address and just assumed someone had tried to brute

I’m going to assume there were no better choices of clips out there. Otherwise why present a clip of the end of the movie that cuts off maybe the greatest moment in the entire movie?

Obligatory

The car crash scene in Enter The Void. Still haunts me. Anyone who’s ever been in a serious crash understands that surreal quiet in the moments before help comes. But thank God I never experienced anything like this.

Now playing

The Bradley Fighting Vehicle is, according to this amazing and hilarous montage, “a troop transport that can’t carry troops... a reconnaissance vehicle that can’t do reconnaissance... and a quasi-tank that has less armor than a snow blower but has enough ammo to take out half of DC.”

Sounds perfect for this occasion to

I was a salaried employee (engineer) at a defense subcontractor in the early 90s when it went on strike. I was forced (or be fired) to break the line to do work on the floor. I found a union rate sheet in someone’s drawer. Folks coming in the door at entry level to do the floor work I was now doing were making as much

Your retorts have gone from childish to infantile. Your argument is so bankrupt that your retort is to literally just repeat my own words back at me verbatim as if I didn’t just say them. But no, not a troll at all!

And every time you ignore the point or try to distort it, I’ll just repeat myself: saying that

Lol you *still* didn’t address my point.

Doesn’t remotely address my point. Nice try at changing the subject, troll.

(SEMI-CRYPTIC SPOILER ABOUT THE END)

I was annoyed with that ‘cryptic ending’ at first, until I realized that in the absence of catharsis, you’re confronted with a more fundamental point than went well beyond mere plot resolution. And I was kinda awed.

He did mention that maybe “we need to know more” before crucifying the guy. I guess if he didn’t use the exact phrase “rule of law”, he’s clearly “pro-groping.” Your response isn’t a counter-argument so much as a loophole.

I can appreciate that you didn’t like the creative choice made in this case. But that wasn’t my point.

So suggesting that maybe the Rule of Law should be what Democrats stand for and standing up for the idea of investigating claims before acting on them is “pro-groping”? What an intellectually dishonest argument. Shame on you.
