Currently own 2 Volvos. I like the brand, and the cars are very good, but a big reason: the DEALER has been awesome. From the sales staff to the service folks, I have always been made to feel like a valued customer.

Had something like this happen to me a while back. Ordered an, 05 Subaru Legacy GT Wagon, dealer said it would take a month. After a month they said the factory was already done with 05 and I could get an 06, maybe. For more money. All the while my deposit was with the dealer and I was off the market.

I teach at a small college in a big city, and many of my colleagues ride a bike or bus to work. In that crowd “cars are bad” is kind of the only acceptable opinion, so pretty much all my car opinions are unpopular.

No. No car has ever “saved” a relationship (whatever that means.) And contrary to popular humor, no car has ever ruined a relationship either. If you are blaming cars for your troubles, or looking to cars for salvation, you are doing it wrong.

I was living a few blocks from a Toyota Dealer when these came out and I remember thinking that “No one would pay over $20,000 for a Toyota”. What do I know? NP, seems market correct and a pretty safe investment.
