Isn’t it possible that they worked together and they both should get credit? It doesn’t have to be one or the other. I don’t think it is offensive to the fictional female character if she received help from a fictional male character she grew up thinking was her brother. I think the fault lies with Nix.  After all he called for a fair catch and did not catch it or even try.  By the time Switzer realized what Nix did it was too late to get to the ball.
