I suspect there was a phase change that accounts for the rapib change in temperature... (heat of vaporization ‘sucked up’ a lot of the Ni ball energy... thus causing the rapid color change). I’d bet the cells began bursting, thus killing the insulating properties of the foam... hence the ‘shock wave’ effect.

They are Marines. Marines are called Marines, not soldiers. Army is soldiers, Navy is sailors and Air Force is airmen. I suspect those that dedicate a portion of their life to serve this country get a bit upset when civilians cannot bother to at least address them correctly.
