LMAO!! That's a really good point. I was just reading some 30 ROCK reviews on this site and that's who came to mind. But yes, you're correct, she would elevate this stuff way above bar. ;)

Fair points. Just didn't work for me, I guess.
Because I've watched it week-after-week for 35 years, stuck with it through the good AND the bad. Just because I don't like the current era doesn't mean I don't like the show or The Doctor. It's just the weak scripts and overall direction I find unfulfilling at the moment. But I'm not jumping off the train just…
Hmmm. That's a lot of work to unravel an overly complicated plot point. But it works about as well as the rest, I guess.
I would save that honor for NAME OF THE DOCTOR myself…. ;)
Fair enough. I got nothing either way, other than "convenient plot point". I might have missed something in the dialogue, though. ;)
It flashbacked to one of Moffat's pet ideas about random guest-stars being past incarnations of The Doctor, even though there's absolutely no history of said character existing. It was naval-gazing fluff, wrapped in Moffatisms, supported by Moffatisms, and expected fans to add any depth or answers to make it actually…
Where did the rewards come from? Who placed them in that vault?
I don't know….some real humans thought SHERWOOD was "funny"…. ;p
Sorry. I'm new. :(
Very nice summation in your first paragraph. Absolutely spot on. Because Clara has never had "character". She's there to fill in the role of "Look I'm pretty!" No depth, no real personality. Everything about her has been, up to this season, Moffat pushing her up front screaming "She's important!!!" She has no life of…
No chance in hell. I'd love to be wrong. But if they couldn't bring anyone back for the 8th Annivers—….I mean…."50th" Anniversary, you won't see them pop-up in this season. That's a guess and like I said, I hope I'm wrong.
Agreed in a way. The Doctor is the only interesting thing I find about this show any more. The Companion is a non-existent eyecandy cypher, the plots are hardly that, and the overall direction of this season seems to scream "COLIN BAKER ERA". So far, a trainwreck, with last week's non-story the awful-cherry on the…
And the rest of us who have never seen, and have no interest in, his previous role simply cringed and fought the urge to change the channel. I was waiting for "timey-wimey" to suddenly burst forth. Ugh.
Would have been more clever than the obvious, eh? ;)
Was there immersion to be had in this episode? ;) lol
Disagree. He's right. She is an MPDG in its truest sense of the word. And "attacking women" is a hilarious stretch when we are talking about an empty cypher character like Clara. She's worthless.
I had to look up what MPDG meant. But you are spot-on-the-money. Absolutely accurate. An empty shell of a character designed for function over real persona, to move Danny's "story" along. Well reasoned.
Riiiiiiight!! I'd blocked that episode from my memory, so I'd forgotten about that little nugget. Okay thanks!
Oh. Weird. I've never heard any of that. And where was it said STOLEN EARTH/JE never happened? Or is this more "fan theory"?
