Hmmm. I understand what you are saying. I just wonder why they don't see the limitations in that? It's obvious it puts a massive strain on that one person. Why couldn't it be Moffat AND Gatiss as showrunner? RTD and Moffat? Just seems like it narrows everything down to a singular vision and voice. And if that voice is

"Purposefully ambiguous" is a neat phrase, and a neat trick. It supposedly excuses the writer from having to take a stand on his material. It's how fans of shows like LOST try to excuse a lack of payoff. Or how Moffat's already pulled this rabbit with "did he push the robot or did it jump" in DEEP BREATH. But that's

He is burned out. He needs a vacation. He took on too much and now is treading water. I don't know what it is about the BBC that requires there to be a single showrunner, or why they insist he has to provide scripts for the seasons rather than just guiding the show. But, Moffat is a good writer that has good ideas,

Agreed. It was an over-hyped empty shell, designed by Moffatisms, and presented to the audience to paint their own perceived "depth" over it. Some decent moments, and PC demands your attention in each scene. But overall, I simply don't get the hype. The only point seems to be what people want to apply to it from their

It's a simple narrative trick Moffat is using. He created the "youngest looking Doctor who acts old". Now he's created the "oldest looking Doctor who acts young". Not a lot of creativity involved. Luckily we have PC raising the source material.

Agreed but no worries. Like he did with RTD's Time War, and RTD did with the Doctor's age, and past producers and writers have done with previous eras (Cartmell Master Plan, for example), a future showrunner will come along and simply write over Moffat's nonsense. All the Clara fluff will be forgotten, the whole "War

Agreed. Simplistic writing in an effort to seem deep and meaningful.

When the Time Lords were created in the show, they were the oldest race in the universe, the most advanced, and the most isolated. They had the power to help improve life across the stars, but instead refused to interfere, content to simply observe the universe impartially. That's originally why The Doctor ran away.

Sloppy writing from a burned-out showrunner. ;)

No apology necessary. I took no offense and enjoyed discussing it with you. :)

And isn't that playing off the fact that Tina Fey and Conan O'Brien dated at some point in real life?

They were in two episode which comprised one story. The third, BOOMTOWN, wasn't about "farting aliens". The fact there was a Slitheen present doesn't actually matter to the point. There was a Slitheen appearance in END OF TIME. Does that drag down Ten's finale? Of course not.

Agreed. I actually love L&M….up to the Peter Kay bit. But other than that, great story.

I think Seasons 4 - 6 have been the most fun and versatile since the
show's return in 2005. However, comparatively, 2005's season one is
still the tightest the show has been.
