I think some distinction needs to be drawn here. I don’t think the Judge is implying, if his hypothesis is correct, that Anthony isn’t responsible for the death. More that the intent itself would not have been to kill.

I took his comments to mean that he thought Anthony didn’t intend for Caylee to die even if she was abusing her, not that duct tape is an acceptable means of disciplining a crying/loud child. It’s not an implausible theory, though the judge should have kept his mouth shut. It’s unseemly for a judge to speculate…

Agree...but you also have to think of what the symbols of marriage represent. The ring - man gives ring to woman, “claiming her” for his, woman changes her last name to his, the father walking the daughter down the aisle, the white dress...these symbols all have historically very oppressive implications.

I get that, but it isn’t as if any property that was left to me by my father will now go to my husband. Laws surrounding marriage have changed, so I don’t think it’s fair to make the statement that she is making.

I think you can be both, but the concept of traditional marriage is pretty inherently “non-feminist”.
