I hear ya. Sometimes it’s nice to play a static game that is actually designed with meaningful intent.
Yeah, that’s the word, as silly as it is :) True, there seems to be a weird trend around this concept and not everyone is really doing it well. I feel like this game has enough style going on that I will be happy to just play it for its own sake and not worry too much about what genre(s) it does or doesn’t decide to…
I happen to like rogue-likes but I understand. It seems like the term has expanded to include a rather wide range of meanings so maybe this particular game won’t be too much like a rogue for you to enjoy it.
I am really tempted by Void Bastards too, but damn it I am sticking to my backlog for now! (It’s wishlisted though-- looks like such crazy comic-book goodness!)
Thanks for confirming that Yakuza 0 can indeed be beaten! I am 30 hours in and barely a third of the way through the story. I am not sure I will be able to see the real estate and Sunshine Club games all the way through (although the Sunshine Club seems a bit more fun)— those are optional in terms of finishing the…
What Have You Finished This Week?
So I finished Half Life 2: Episode 2.
I’m back in No Man’s Sky for a bit. This is a very good game to zone out to, there are times when some limitations are frustrating (you NEVER have enough inventory space) but the planetary exploration is really interesting. I’ve just recently found a lush, perfectly habitable planet with a reasonable temperature…
I have made substantial progress in Baba Is You and have now unlocked [SPOILERS] a secret area. A new mechanic has been added: spelling! Now there are individual letter tiles that you can move around the board to spell words. One problem: you can’t invent new items this way. For instance, from MOONTH, you could form…
Nearly at the end of first Dishonored 2 play-through, Emily - non lethal style. Next level is level 8, at the Duke’s home. Crack in the Slab is a great level and I want to play an entire level with that mechanic.
I will say Katana Zero’s story gets better, albeit never exactly great? But at least more interesting than the very basic Hotline Miami riff it starts as.
The Messenger is really fun, and I’m a big fan of Guacamelee 2; some of the jokes are a little dumb, but it’s a very good, very kinetic sort of Metroidvania game.
Look…
Decided to pick up Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age on Switch, and it’s a perfect fit for the console. FFXII is probably the slickest game in the franchise for grinding, so being able to sit back and do so while watching TV is a godsend.
Morning all! It’s pretty rare for me to be up this early, but considering the recent development in my life that is the birth of my daughter I figured I’d wake up a bit earlier to catch this commenting train. Last Friday we welcomed her into the world, and words kind of fail to capture how much life is different now…
Of COURSE they are. They found out I finally got one 3 months ago.
Hey. I spent most of this week trying really hard to defeat some 5* Magicites in Final Fantasy Record Keeper. I succeeded a lot more than I thought I would. Syldra (FF5) and Typhon (FF6 sneeze guy) of the Wind Magicite group are my new heavy hurdle to surpass. So I decided to buy Caligula Effect Overdose for PC (since…
My biggest unpopular food opinion is that buttercream frosting is gross and should be outlawed. Cream cheese frosting, on the other hand, I will eat with a spoon. Glazes or ganaches are also acceptable.
Seems like A Hat In Time is a great fit for the Switch. I played it on my PS4. Seeing as you can have controllers on PC too, any platform seems fine but the short levels and the vibrant, easy-going atmosphere are good for pick-up-and-play I’d think.
