Yeah, in all reality the Camry of the last 4ish years really isn’t all that bad a people mover from most perspectives. People are generally just too into appearances...rather buy a luxury car with 100k on it vs. a new Camry / Accord and then complain about repair bills.
How many would turn their noses up at having to drive a Camry?
“I don’t like it, there aren’t enough doors” - all OEMs everywhere
Meanwhile, Cybertrucks brick from going through a car wash. 😂
And I don’t get the appeal of stuff like F1. Seems boring.
“Became lost while using his GPS"? I read that as "tried to cut across illegally after missing his exit"
Modern cars are, for the most part, fantastic. Plus, you don’t have to worry about dying if you get into a minor car accident, and they’re – for the most part – better for the environment.
He’s right though. As cars become more like appliances, less and less soulful cars will exist.
WRX. I’m hugely biased though, I’ve owned 2 different WRX hatch/wagons.
“While EVs emit no tailpipe emissions, producing them is hard on the environment and they continue to require electricity to operate.” Those cover production and operation, end of life (EOL) is another issue. The batteries have to go somewhere at the end of the EV’s life cycle. An ICE vehicle is made of mostly…
You can’t seize Cybertrucks... they are all broken down or rusted.
When they bought the Model S for LAPD, maybe.
Sure $60,000 why not, but the article states the cops are saying regular cop cars are $116,000 and I’m like, what?
“Drug dealers have cool cars”
Or a mud puddle.
I mean it’s Irvine so I’m sure their budget is super high and being in the 1 safest city in Socal, I can’t see there being much to do in terms of actual policing. They could have used that money to sponsor local racing events like autocross, donations, ya know actually being there for the community (or at the least…
So if I am ever speeding in Irvine, the best way to lose the cops is to drive through a carwash?
As a 40 year resident of Irvine, this surprises me. Kids are driving Cybertrucks to school here, so I doubt that a student being forced to sit through a DARE presentation will be all that impressed. As noted in the post below, just take a car from the drug seizure lot and be done with it.
Since when does a police department actually pay for a “community engagement” vehicle? Around me they’re all either cars seized from drug dealers or free surplus MRAPs.
