It’s simple. Merc was either unaware of how close they were to the weight limit or miscalculated how much weight was being lost to the tires on an extended one-stop.

But none of those claims to be totally automated, nor do they have names that make users think they are. 

Just like so-called full self drive an autopilot (still don’t know what the difference between those same-sounding names is) they are totally automated, except the driver has to be able to control any any time, rendering it useless.

I don’t think Max acting like a whiny toddler was overshadowed by McLaren. When I was done watching I was mostly left thinking ‘My one year old has less tantrums than Max does’. I do wonder about F1 (or whoever controls what radio messages get played)...they could have buried those. Or maybe there were more/worse ones…

I do enjoy reading about people who are unlikeable finally starting to get some consequences for their assholishness. 

I think Max spent his entire life being told how great he his, and how amazing his driving skills are. So much that he believes it himself, and therefore when ANYTHING negative happens during his race, it can’t be his fault ever. It has to be the car, the other drivers, the tires, the setup, the pit crew, the race…

One of the things that’s most telling about Verstappen is that when he was winning, his team was content to just soak up his bullshit and his rants and bullying. And now that he’s not, they seem to have ZERO patience for him. I think he legitimately forgot that what goes up can also come down.

The first paragraph summed things up perfectly. If Verstappen begins feeling any pressure and things aren’t going his way, he falls apart. His behavior was exactly like “early Verstappen” from several years ago... basically a whiny bitch who blames everybody else.
