This toddler just needed to use the manual release! /s

Is there no problem Tesla can’t unsolve?

If my battery is dead in my ICE car, I can still open the doors from the outside.

waiting for Elon stan and Tesla fanbois pointing out that it is faultless and safer than other brands or it’s totally unnecessary because firefighter can just open the door manually but they don’t know how

If anything, I think Teslas go through 12v batteries faster than ICE vehicles for some reason. Couldn’t tell you why.
That said, the cars do have an alert that tells you when its time to replace the 12v. Not sure if there was some malfunction here or negligence that created the situation.

THIS SHOULD NEVER FUCKING HAPPEN! There should be laws against all this fancy electronic junk they make just to “disrupt” Well, look what you disrupted! If it ain’t broke, DON’T FIX IT! A door & latches have been a solved problem for over a century! I would sue Tesla into oblivion to where they cease to exist if I

Of course not!! It’s a Tesla ffs.

This sounds like a HUGE design flaw.

The child was lucky it wasn’t a Cybertruck. Firefighters would be no match for its indestructible body and bulletproof glass.

Poorly GM figured it out almost 20 years ago on the C6 Corvette electronic door handles.

Model 3/Y handles don’t pop out, they’re actually manual levers that activate an electric popper. Which boggles the mind, why not make them mechanical since you’re already pulling on them to open it. You can still keep the electric open button on the inside.

They really couldn’t have made a small key hole underneath the handle? Mercedes even has redundancy.

It baffles me how a vehicle designed to hold 90 plus kwh of electricity in it’s battery pack cannot keep a 12 volt battery topped off.

Ya, maybe a small metal stick, with unique profile that only matches a special hole on the car. You could carry it in your pocket, just in case.

The key to developing such a system is to have an open mind.

They absolutely can do capacity tests to see the state of charge on the battery; they chose not to because that’s not the sort of disruption they are looking for. An alternate would be to use super capacitors and/or to use the main vehicle battery as back-up. They won’t do either of those because, chorus please,

If only someone would invent switches to control things.

That baby learned its lesson! Or it will have, when it develops Object Permanence.

If only there was a way to open a lock without electricity...

“As for Sanchez and her Tesla, she says she’s a fan of the brand, but told AZ Family that this latest episode has shaken her faith.”
