Nothing's easier than [isnoop.net] for setting up an RSS feed to watch your package. No signing up, no passwords, no emails.

The other cool thing about MS Money (and I assume Quicken) is you can split transactions. If I buy cat litter, windshield wipers, and milk at Sprawl-Mart, which shoebox does the receipt go in?

Bah! Back in my day, we shot with slide film and we had red eye, blemishes, shiny skin, and pale blue sky. And we liked it!

I don't get it either. If you get distracted by toolbars and font sizes, I'm thinking anything will distract you from your writing. Like the sun rising or the sound of the air conditioner. Or Lifehacker.

I'd expect the SMS response to any McDonald's menu item to be "If you have to ask, find another restaurant."

"Digital camera-specific photo software"? Huh? Until some third party makes the EOS Utility for my 40D, I'll stick with Canon software.

@helmsb: I was thinking the exact same thing. I'd install it just to impress people with my magic crashing skills.

And they wonder why Linux never took off at Wal-Mart.

Hmm - was about to try it out but after all the complaints, I think I'll pass. Perhaps a club built around people trying to get things for free wouldn't be composed of the most ambitious or organized people.

I'd be really nervous with anything that close to a socket.

I don't understand Google. You'd think with their green philosophy they'd appreciate us deleting items that we'll never need again. Otherwise it just takes up memory and potential power that could be used elsewhere.

I think this "extreme" tip was actually quite normal back in the day. My parents would always buy a quarter or half cow from the butcher and store the meat in the basement freezer. I don't really consider my mom extreme.

Huhm. I've been using Vista for over a year with a Trendnet router as a NAT firewall, pulling 6-8 Mbps with no problems whatsoever. I suppose the 'Trendnet' part is the trick.

*gasp* I would never dream of giving away a book just because I read it.

My mom just sends me stuff and makes me decide whether or not to throw it out.

@sw2: That's a great tip, thanks! Much more slick than the article's tip.

This is great for us slugs stuck using IE in our offices. Unfortunately IE add-ons are exe's, so I can't install them in the office anyway without schmoozing up to my IT masters.

I finally got into the habit of filing an email when it comes into my Outlook at work. I get antsy when I have more than 10 emails not filed.

I've never really understood Notepad alternatives. The point of Notepad for me is that it's basic and essential functions only. When you add functionality to it, it suddenly ceases to be comparable to Notepad.

One more thing I do...always give my work fax number if I have to supply a 'real' phone number. It's something I can actually remember, and it's a nice surprise for them if they try to call and sell me something.
