Call me crazy, but my dad had a 1984 stick shift Chevette that was indestructible. Perhaps it was the ONLY one. That car was used for everything, including semi-off roading and driving to college. Don’t you think part of this confusion comes from the ordering and reservation system, though, versus buying off the lot? I think buying straight off the lot is different, and few people have experience with ordering a car.

I presumed the poster also meant not being able to transfer tech that you paid for to a new owner, such as the software battery upgrades. Also, the whole turning off fast-charging for cars for cars that have been wrecked and then repaired but not by Tesla. That has since been reversed, but I think it’s the philosophy.
