I’ve always loved the BRZ from the moment I saw one up close at a conference in Greenville, S.C. The local Michelin plant put one on display with Tweels (which aren’t designed for performance, but it looked cool).

I don’t think that’s what everyone is saying here. You have to put these comments into the context of the car. The seller was focused more on the trappings of policing and the accoutrements of saying things that appear to support the police.

Yeah, I can’t believe they’re reporting news related to automobiles and automobile companies. Crazy, right?

He bought luxury older cars (not too rare) at auction and then sold them to people who wanted one but couldn’t buy new. Flipping essentially but before the internet.

We were in the same boat ... er ... Buick. But it was hard to tell the old dude he didn’t need to own a car. He didn’t drive it the last year of his life, but we’d use it to take him to the doc or to see old friends. Sometimes you pay the price for the dignity of your family even if it doesn’t make financial sense.

I know. I could pocket that cash and use the old pickup, but I love my car, and since the pandemic I haven’t really put any miles on it.

Friend of mine who used to sell vintage used cars told me he never made $1 selling a car. But he made a TON of cash buying them. He said that’s where you make your money.

As Hasselhoff would tell you, “Admitting a weakness and fixing it, it’s giving into it.”

That’s kind of where the tobacco company lawsuits landed. They were selling a product that when used as intended resulted in the death of the users.

I do not mind a stick in traffic, but one time traffic really opened up for me was the time a police officer was right there right as I gunned it. Much to his surprise when I rolled down my tinted window on my WRX with a 50 year old wearing a tie behind the wheel.

My wife isn’t physically able to drive a stick, but I still have one. We also have an automatic and a beat up old pickup truck that’s also auto just cause it is.

I don’t think this is price fixing. I think this is price setting.

Ha! That’s a great tip. Honestly, channel-locks are incredibly versatile tools. Always have a few around my house. Maybe not foot-long.

They did pay up once I fixed the car and brought all the documentation and broken module to them. I know the oil tech didn’t want to admit what he’d done, and likely didn’t know what he’d done.

Right, but it might make them act in good faith or at least have a lawyer on their side require them to think about it at least.

It’s a marketing gimmick. If you click the “UNLOCK SAVINGS” button, it shows you the price, which changes if you’re doing finance, lease or cash. But it gives you the base price for the vehicle.

Lawrence, this is fascinating. Please keep us up to date on this. Also, Mod Motor Guy: Great insight.

I think there are other customer service reasons too, but if actual customers don’t mind perhaps it’s not that big of an issue.

Yes.

Thanks for saying that better than I would have if I’d tried. Some interiors are cheap and they don’t want to look cheap, and we don’t want to pay. Also, supply chain impacts everything in manufacturing.
