Actually the insurance was more than the golf, but I shopped around for a new insurance company and got it less than it was to insure than my Golf was.

I have always thought these were good and under rated. I always thought that ZF made good boxes so does that mean all the documented transmission issues are related to the tuning and not the durability ?

That’s great ! I had heard some scary stuff about the Eco Diesels but I don’t know anyone personally with one. They still command a pretty good premium over the gas one too

How do you like the diesel GC ? I was curious about those too

From what I know, they are pretty reliable aside from a few small things. Just some of the maintenance is expensive like brakes and such. But luckily no air suspension to worry about

Yah the hybrid one is super rare ! And I agree there was a short period of deisel SUVs coming in, basically until Volkswagen ruined it for everyone. Basically all German too since the Grand Cherokee still kind of dates back to the Diamiler Chrysler days I think it still has some Mercedes bits

I am pretty sure the MDX can only tow 5000 lbs , which is still plenty for most but it would be hard to find someone cracking into 32mpg in an MDX

I would be disappointed maybe if it was a small car, but this is a 4 wheel drive SUV with a 7700 lb tow rating that still can get over 30mpg. I can't think of anything that can accomplish that.

It is much closer to an Audi than a Volkswagen. I'll have to try to take some pictures of all the trim inside to show you what I mean. The road manners are fantastic and it is more comfortable than the golf by a long way.

To be honest, the Classic Tiguan is hardly smaller if you park them next to eachother. I park next to a Subaru Forester at work and they have basically the same footprint, the Touareg just feels bigger to drive. Handles more like a proper SUV instead of a Golf with a lift kit.

96 months is CRAZY. If you need breathing room you are WAY beyond your means. This is why we keep seeing posts about the car loan bubble. Read more

My steed since May, 2015 Golf Sportwagen TDI, Dual Clutch. Quite possibly the best DD for my commute. Already put 20k miles on it.

This is a hard one, it comes down to the bonding with the car though. I think its my ‘91 Toyota 4Runner or the 2000 F-250. I love the car I have now but its hard to say in just 20k miles.

Still not an XC70, but it does look good.
