The transition scenes are always (appropriately) called out for their hilarity, but the other long-running background character gag that I love is someone is always filming the crazy shit that happens on their phone. 

They Python bit is just quintessential them. So perfectly executed. But it seems wrong to reference it without also citing to John Cleese’s eulogy for Chapman, which makes for just a perfect two-part remembrance of the man.

I just binged the entire series for the first time last week.  Pretty funny show, and I really, really like America Ferrara in it. Her eyerolls are the best thing since Jim’s camera looks.

I’d say Maniac and Russian Doll are pretty good comparisons. Similar tones, as I’d characterize them both as character dramas with sci-fi elements and a similar style of humor thrown in. Beaker will never not be funny.  Sometimes a one-note joke is a perfect joke.

For dynamic duos, I really, really liked Jessica Barden and Alex Lawther in The End of the Fucking World.  Neither character could have been easy to play, and I thought they both nailed it. 

My daughter (turning 11 next week) used to watch Elmo’s Christmas Special constantly. “I Want a Snuffleuplegus for Christmas” was one of her favorites, and she mimicked all of Anne’s gestures and inflections while singing along.

The German accent was apparently Goode’s idea.  It is to Snyder’s extreme discredit that he said “yes” to it.

With respect to Moore’s claims about trying to write something unfilmable . . . I think I’ve seen this. And it wasn’t so much that he said he was trying to make an unfilmable movie, but instead, he wrote Watchmen to take advantage of things only a comic book would do.

My hope is that Dennis never tells us what happened to his family.  Dennis is funnier when we’re not entirely sure the extent of his madness.  Refusing to ever give more than a vague explanation about why he came back would be perfect Dennis.

The ability to binge watch is such a strange thing.
