Am I wrong that all of these “Which X is Best” polls is really just a tally that actually answers the question “Which X Do You Own/Use?”

It’s very simple. You see, Mix was born in Norway, which is considered part of Northern Europe. The Netherlands are also part of Northern Europe, and in the Netherlands, bicycles are very popular. Therefore, this was a bicycle kick.
Bicycle kick? Where?
And curing cancer “still boils down” to pipetting liquid into a test tube and looking through a microscope. What’s your point?
Puh-lease.
I guess I could have been clearer. When I said there was an advantage to those who enjoyed “exercising,” I meant those enjoyed exerting themselves. I don’t imagine our hunter-gatherer ancestors were doing Jazzercise or Crossfit, but the ones that enjoyed chopping wood or participating in exhausting hunts were the ones…
To be clear, I’m not suggesting that Jenner is undeserving. I think it’s the case both that she’s deserving and ESPN is trying to capitalize on her fame. Had some other athlete transitioned, but who wasn’t part of the world’s most famous reality family, I’m not sure ESPN would recognize that person.
Giving the award to Mandela was also a cynical attempt to generate attention for themselves.
I agree with you, and I think it’s a shame that Deadspin has become a place for performative sanctimony, where one has to preface and apologize for having a different perspective, even if it’s both reasonable and not offensive (like yours).
I didn’t realize she was no longer covering sports. Shows you how much ESPN I’ve been watching.
Covering sports doesn’t count as being “actively involved?”
Serena is obviously in the debate about Greatest Women’s Player of all time, but “undoubtedly?” C’mon.
As I mentioned down below, Serena got smoked 6-1, 6-2 by some German schmoe who was ranked 203rd.
Serena Williams is an amazing talent, but she cannot compete with professional men.
Sorry. I’d probably enjoy the event more if I allowed myself to just be immersed in it, but then I’d never have rad photos to post, to remind people I’m living a super-sweet life.
I mostly agree with what you’re saying, particularly that if there are easier ways than exercise to activate our pleasure centers, we’ll usually take that option. But, I do believe that we’re hard-wired to enjoy exercise (it’s part of the reason why almost all kids love to play) until we allows those circuits to…
That’s an interesting question that I’ve thought about, too, and I have no idea what the answer is.
Oh, man. You just gave my memory a jolt (I’m 39).
n of one here, but exercises definitely energizes me. It’s only partially an increase in physical energy, it’s more that I feel better and happier and am more likely to say yes to opportunities. I just feel more alive.
I’m with brownie on this one.
