What does the “basically” in that mean? That’s 6764 plate appearances, something like 20000 pitches. I guarantee you he can not remember all those pitches in any meaningful way. I would definitely believe he has broad recall like “Yeah such and such a pitcher throws a lot of curveballs.”

If Weaver and Kelly don’t contribute then yes D Backs got fleeced. But I agree with you, they got two guys who are Major League ready, its not like they are getting two low-A ball players. This all day. Weaver’s advanced metrics (spin rate, break, etc) have him within the top 50 pitchers in baseball based on Eno Sarris breakdown. He could go even higher if he puts it all together with better control and sequencing.

I think you’re being overly pessimistic on the return Arizona got. Goldschmidt is a free agent after this year and that tends to severely depress returns. Weaver was quite good in 2017 (and has something like 5 years of control left), and people seem relatively positive on Kelly and Young.

I tend to agree it is pedantic. I understand the distinction the author is making but, to me, it’s a distinction that does not make a difference. You can call this violence or domestic violence but the facts are that he knew this woman and what one considers “intimate” is open for debate.

If we’re going to be needlessly pedantic, since one definition of “domestic” means existing in one’s home country, then this is technically domestic violence because Hunt is a US citizen.
