But it uh... it IS a fancy Land Cruiser. Even the brand-new 2021s are 95% the same vehicle, separated by fancypants suspension, audio systems, and dashboard designs.

My truck enables and supports my racing hobby. It’s not fun in any sense, the Hemi is awful on fuel, and it’s generally kinda big for daily driving. It could go off-road though the general dimensions make that more annoying than amusing.

DAVID. This is the perfect “reliable daily” for you. Install a hitch since it doesn’t have one for whatever reason, and use it to retrieve more shitboxes that we all know you’ll buy anyway.

Hugely exciting! Now how to get some Out Motorsports stickers on his car... hrm.

I’ve owned a ridiculous number of older BMWs (15 or so?) but I wouldn’t say I’m brand-loyal as a result, given I’m pretty critical of the brand now and am willing to accept their numerous flaws in older models, too.

Nope, not exclusive at all. Moreso embracing the “come as you are” ethos to the fullest extent.

Thanks! Give another Scott some business if you need any graphic design work.

I know ALL about the dating scene and intersectionality. It’s oddly rough, especially if you’re in a city (like I am) where car ownership isn’t really required for many. I’ve had so many first dates who found the whole car enthusiasm thing perplexing and there was no second date as a result. Their loss, IMO. Come join

Thanks so much! :-) I’ve never been to Canada and would really like to change that. We do have a Discord chat server, discussion forum, and monthly Zoom calls to keep in touch - would be great to have y’all join us that way! Our winner of “most distant member” is currently an Australian who is a delight to see on Zoom

Thank you, Elizabeth. Very much. It was a pleasure chatting and I so appreciate the work that you and others here are doing for “othered” automotive enthusiasts. Car culture is more than just news/reviews (important as those may be) and y’all cover so many good things here. Very pleased and proud to be included as

Hah, thankfully not an attack at all. That shot is from our $1,500 AWD beater off-road trip last summer (video here) in which my friend took his V8 Volvo XC90 (which had been rendered surprise-FWD thank you Haldex angle gear) and sent it full-throttle through a mud pit that involved three-wheeling on the exit. He

You’re nuts in the best way. I (and several others) am very proud to see your name on the front page today, congrats :-)

Ahh yes that’s the other one that immediately came to mind. Sigh.

I was really really really into the Dodge Demon concept when that was released in the mid-2000s. Looked like it could have been an affordable Miata competitor at the time.

Welcome welcome! Really love seeing the diversity in staff that Jalopnik has and continues to have. Looking forward to reading your work!

57595 was the code to my dad’s 1994 Taurus LX. No idea how I remember that code but not the code for my 2018 F-150 (now sold).

The Ram 1500 can be had with four-corner air suspension and it’ll squat a few inches in Entry/Exit mode. I love it on my 2016. The new (2019+) Ram HD can be equipped with rear-only airbags and there is a button to lower the rear for easier loading or to squat under a gooseneck hitch, line it up, and raise the bed to

As an automotive journalist, I do enjoy getting in a Mercedes-Benz with MBUX. It is worlds better than their old COMAND system. One letdown for me is the navigation itself - it uses Here.com mapping and has told me several times “you’ve arrived!” when in fact I’m on a highway or back road and not at my destination.

We are here for the vocal and less vocal of our family ;-)

Love this idea, thanks for the list! Hopefully Out Motorsports can make the cut in a future piece. We share stories of LGBT+ folks getting into all-things-car and all-things-motorsport.
