If lip-syncing is “standard” for you, you might want to reconsider the “artists” to whom you give your money.

A more talented singer could have performed and got the exposure. Mariah Carey took that opportunity away and then wasted it with a lazy shitty performance and attitude. How much I paid or did not pay to see it is irrelevant.

Standards in the industry are not what I’m basing my opinion. It’s artistic integrity. Lip-syncing is lame.

Yes-like is it too much t expect a singer to actually sing? What if we all did our jobs that way?

Bingo.

Ugggghhhhh is the only response I have to this. You must be a delight at dinner parties.

Lol. You sound like a shitty lawyer.

How is a lip-synced performance meaningfully less real than a non-lip-synced one?

You totally are one of those people who go to a concert and watch the show through your cell phone as you record, aren’t you?

Who are these morons who would rather listen to a prerecorded track than hear the actual singer’s voice? WTF? I have seen Adele and Maroon 5 live. Both sounded better live.

From someone who worked the show, I understand she blew off her sound check, then tried to blame others for the malfunction.

Did you really just ask how someone not singing is less real than someone singing?

“Do you agree with the sentiment that it was bad for Mariah Carey to lip-sync this performance?” Yes.

It seriously makes no difference to you whether your favorite artist performs at a concert you attend, or just moves their mouth and pantomimes the thing? Like if Eric Clapton just pretended to play guitar, that’d be just as good as hearing him actually perform his art?

I guess it depends on the artist, but I haven’t been to a show where the singer is lip-synching. Maybe Vegas/Vegas-style shows or artists who never improvise during performance, so I don’t think it’s a standard across the industry.

all that glitters is not gold, honey.

Hahahaha! I have watched MC’s teevee show and this is totally to be expected. MC probably had a hair issue or forgot what time it is in NYC (daylight savings is over) or was too busy eating smoked salmon and capers for her sound check. She’s a dizzy mess! Her manager/fluffer is a cost cutting cut-up! Her dancers are

Billy Eichner and funny don’t belong anywhere near each other in a sentence unless that sentence also includes the words, “is not” directly before funny.

She was patient for a long time though. It took a while for her to snap.

I love this entire interaction. That woman is not👏🏽here👏🏽for👏🏽it. I can’t say I’d react any differently if I didn’t already know who he was. Some random runs up to me in the street with a mic, he’s getting a mean mug and silence at minimum and a punch in the throat at max.
