i mean most of this is wrong. This isnt remotely like the bubble of 10-12 years ago. Mortgage underwriting is still pretty strict and while i hate blackstone and private equity more than most at the moment they are a bit player in housing.

So BMW M3 money for a car that looks like an M3 drawn by a toddler on acid. Got it.
The house is therefore valued at $550k if you and others are willing to pay that price.
The banks *definitely* care.
A coworker told me that he took out a loan for the down payment of his new luxury car that I’m sure he was overcharged for. I just shook my head and walked away.
Tesla was founded in California, all of the US market ones are made in California (until the Texas factory comes online), and although Musk has since moved to Texas, he made his fortunes in California. For a lot of the “Muricans”, they don’t really consider California part of the USA.
Looked through their investor presentation and was incredibly impressed with the rise they’ve gone through in the past couple years. Seems like they hit a point where they said “we’re ready to make money now” and just flipped a switch and made major headway each quarter. I don’t think anyone can argue with their…
Why so many “free market loving Americans” rally against a US company, I will never know. Elon is an asshole, but his company takes so much shit from people who would love to see them go bankrupt. I just dont get it.
Yeah, watching Sandy Munro, I get the impression things like panel gaps are the wrong metric for judging Teslas. He’s demonstrated how Teslas improve their parts and designs over short intervals without announcement, and he’s shown how Tesla takes extra care to minimize materials used and make parts modular between…
Interesting.
Tesla is making market adjustments just like dealers, but at least you don’t have to spend 50 hours calling and emailing different dealers trying to get the best price. One price for everybody is a great business move.
The process of buying a Tesla is litterally filling out some forms in a website, you are only sitting in a showroom while doing it.
The process for a dealership is they ask you want you want to pay per month, leave for an hour and come back with numbers that mean nothing without transparency for how much it actually…
Yeah I’d rather pay Tesla an extra $3500 for a Model 3 or Y than have to worry about some dipshit dealer that thinks it can add a > $10K markup to a Kia Telluride:
You constantly defend these leaches and never once acknowledge the extreme time suck it takes to deal with them (even after the deal is made on the car - you still have the finance/paperwork guy trying to upsell you and not taking no for an answer). Maybe you like spending all of your free time driving from dealer to…
Exactly - part of the issue buying from a dealer is all the extra crap they try to sell you on and the fact that you and another customer buying the same model at the same time could be paying very different prices completely based on your comfort negotiating (hence the reason people feel screwed over).
Most manufacturers adjust pricing through incentives, not monthly changes in MSRP. Since Tesla doesn’t have dealers and they generally only sell at MSRP, when they have to adjust the price, they have to change the MSRP, so it’s more noticeable than “doesn’t GM usually have cashback offers on this car?”
Most automakers increase the price year to year... on the new model year.
I don’t consider changing MSRP as a markup. You’ll pay that same price at every location sold via Tesla vs. the skeezy dealer down the street that wants to charge an extra 10k on top of MSRP because they can.
Tesla is just trying to maximize profit in a crazy market. It’s not a “markup”, it’s supply and demand. Just like every other auto maker. Don’t like it? Don’t buy it. And I couldn’t care less about Tesla and their wannabe super-villain CEO. The 3 is a penalty box on wheels.
Or...hear me out! 195hp, FWD, raised up a little add some extra doors and because Nissan is fancy like that throw in an awesome CVT!!!
