Get on the subway and check out Queens and the Bronx! Brooklyn gets the hype, but there’s amazing food in the other outer boros.

Does anyone know if the driving version of Do Not Disturb allows calls through even if they aren’t favorites? It would seem that if you can connect to your car’s bluetooth, you can safely take a phone call while driving.

In my experience, circuit trainers are the worst offenders. The bad ones lay claim to multiple spots in the gym, with a few sets of dumbbells strewn about so they have instant access to them. They use the resources of 2 or 3 people.

I’m going to vouch for Buzzfeed’s political reporting. They do some good stuff.

One new thing I noticed is a small addition to the “travel time” notification that pops up when you connect to your car’s bluetooth.

Another advantage: lower fees. An actively-managed fund will come with a hefty 1% or more fee on it. A Vanguard S&P 500 index fund's fee will be .17%, even lower for investments greater than $10,000.

This is what I do. I contribute the 6% of my salary to get the full match, and then I allocate money to my own Roth IRA (not 401(k)). The advantage to this is investment options. Your investment options on your employer-provided 401(k) probably include a bunch of funds with some heavy fees. The separate Roth IRA gives

I thought the 2006 Core 2 Duo maxed out at Lion? I'm still on Snow Leopard, so if there's a way to get to Mavericks, I would love that. I avoided Lion and would have upgraded to Mountain Lion if I could have.

Yep. This is pretty much my experience. I was stuck in a job barely above entry level in title and pay, despite what my true skills and responsibilities were, before getting a new offer from another company with a 50% bump and jumped ship. 8 months later, I get a text from my old boss asking how much it would take me

Amen. I have a few friends who rely so heavily on their GPS, they can't even drive home from work without direction from it. Do yourself a favor every once in awhile: get lost. Really. You have no idea how quickly you will connect the dots of your city when you're forced to figure it out for yourself.

Zecrah is the one being defensive here?

Spell check is a technology that's been around since word processors were invented. No one is asking you to compete in a Spelling Bee.

Oh boy... I hope this is a joke.

Personally, I think Fox's 720p signal looks like crap (WNYW in NYC). I notice it mostly during football season. Games on CBS (in 1080i) look much, much crisper to me than games on Fox (720p). I have a feeling Fox is compressing their signal much more than CBS is.

You're doing it correctly. You want your expensive HDTV to scale the image, not the crappy satellite box. Leaving the box in "Native" mode will pass the signal through at the resolution it is broadcast to your TV.

Maybe an hour of jogging doesn't, but doing P90x's Plyo workout (or even an Insanity workout, which I hear puts P90x to shame), yes you can. My heart rate was between 170 & 190 for 45 of the 60 minutes. I used a HRM (measuring after each 30 second move), but this site also confirms it for my weight and intensity

Your best bet to measure heart rate is an actual heart rate monitor unfortunately. The most accurate ones will have a band you put around your chest and connect via bluetooth to a watch/mobile device. I have a watch that measures my heart rate from my thumb/pointer finger. Heart rate is pretty accurate, but unless

I disagree whole-heartedly. It is such a boost to look down at your watch after an hour cardio workout and see 900 calories burned. Makes you feel like you actually accomplished something significant and keeps you motivated for the next one.

I work for a baseball team and we are given 4 tickets per game to either use ourselves or transfer to family/friends. I'm trying to figure out a clean and easy way to keep track of requests so I don't "double book", so to speak.

One of the many reasons I'm thankful for Perian on the Mac. Makes it so easy.
