No, I suspect a valve body or sensor issue. It downshifts manually without a problem. It doesn't slip in any gear and goes through all gears.

If you look on the BMW forums, ppeople complain about an upcoming M not having that much detail. And what they want on their "design list". It seems that the more popular M has become, the more it attracts those that want it to shout, "I have an M car!!"
