St Louis was fucked over in that expansion round as well: they had a big-name ownership group lined up (including Walter Payton, God rest him), a name and colors (the St Louis Stallions, who if memory serves would wear purple and gold) and were even selling shirts at Johnny Mac’s with the team logo.
