I actually got the warm doublet from the old man on the plateau by finding him on top of a mountain. I needed to carry a lit torch the entire time because somehow the little flicker of flame on it will keep you warm

Part of that could just be people have forgotten Zelda 2. It came out late in the NES period and was kinda ignored for so long that when people consider ranking Zelda games its really easy to not even place it on the list. Skyward Sword came out at a time when everyone could play it and everyone could crap it to all

Its every 4th of July weekend for 4 days. It is a spin-off of MarsCon and MiniCon which, I'll spare you the convoluted mess of how those are related, you might see a stronger comic presence at but they are very small. I think MarsCon only has 600-800 people and MiniCon is probably in the same boat.

Paper Girls does get better the longer it goes. In hindsight that first volume is an utter mess lurching around with its story and refusing to actually tell you anything. The second arc continued this a bit while making up for it with the stronger central question of facing your past/future but the third arc has been

I mean CONvergence is a good ~8000 people are so. They're not super comic focused but they'll have some comics guests usually and the staff there actually cares about the fandom a lot

I think they're their own thing? They've popped up all over the place over the last decade rather suddenly, they have WW in just about every major city now, and they're all crass greed driven affairs which fulfill the masses idea of a "convention" without the panels or affectionate insight you get from more

Wizard World is about commercialization of everything, first and foremost. It's one of the big things I have against them, they don't care about anything except making money and their efforts to sound "nerdy" are utterly hollow

Its a very Scandinavian expression of surprise/grunt. It's just my accent seeping through into my typing don'cha know

This is only like the third year of Twin Cities WW, so the fact we've got Peter Capaldi coming is pretty nice. That being said, I loathe all Wizard World conventions so seeing it fail would give me no end of pleasure

So far I'm not convinced Lynels are killable. When I tried fighting one last night I pulled off 3 dodge-fury rushes on it with a power 32 weapon and barely shifted its life bar before it killed me in one hit.

Not to mention having Islamic chanting over a Buddhist stage is just kinda off

I mean, I kept describing the guy as a judge or a court official, they were just so ingrained to everyone being some kind of high level knight or soldier they didn't really think he would only have the 7 hp of an NPC noble

I'm Minnesotan, its not as out-of-nowhere as you might expect

oh, those bird knights, yeah those guys are assholes. I have managed to kill them a few times since I'm a masochists who doesn't like running from a fight but it really comes down to placement. There's a few areas where you can get them in a piece of terrain which limits their movement and lets you pound away on them

Actually making progress in BOTW I cleared the Zora Divine Beast last night. I found the initial fight outside the beast cooler than most of the beast itself even if that part was really easy, the Waterblight Gannon fight was just annoying when you got to the second half and he constantly teleports away and makes you

I didn't notice relying on a single party over having some flavor, no more than any other FE game at least, though the abundance of the Forsaken late in the game was annoying to deal with since some class just can't hurt the buggers. Also the ones with the Range 10 attacks? Fuck those guys

Even if that essay is looking at games past BOTW calling Zelda a "Damsel in distress" character is a stretch, she's no Princess Peach. In Ocarina she trains in secret for years to become a ninja and helps guide you to where you need to go before Gannon grabs her at the very end; in Windwaker she's a Pirate captain who

The WiiU is a pretty durable system but shipping it like that? Uffda…

I agree with you about the number of characters in Conquest. The child system was cute when Awakenings did it, and still gives you worthwhile characters, but man does it add a lot of drag to the game when you just want to get through it. I am actually rather relieved Echoes won't have it and hope they're a little more

Nobody really LIKES Zelda 2 (MIyamoto even named it as the one game he wishes he could do again) but most of that has to do with its grind and the insane difficulty of the last dungeon. Compared to the contentious debate and scorn that surrounds something like Skyward Sword I dare say Zelda 2 isn't that widely hated.
