I think he also wants to make a strong point to Americans about the legitimacy of hip hop in popular American music, and black entertainers being valued. I love it.

I don’t understand anything that I just read. It’s like they don’t even care to sound coherent or make these bills clever enough that they can pass as anything other than blatant bullshit excuses to push their stupid beliefs.

Speaking as a filmmaker, I hate, hate, hate it when fellow filmmakers use the “we’re telling a story” as a crutch for every decision they make, and a bullwark against every criticism. Not enough blacks in your movie? “Well we’re trying to tell a story...” The women in your movie are reductive caricatures with no lives

I’m getting reeeeeally uncomfortable with how the show regards bisexuality. Jamal’s whole storyline after he hooked up with Alicia Keys was ridiculous. The flip flop scene? I could barely watch it was so cringeworthy.

The biggest issue I see with Empire is that no one involved with writing this show seems to be capable of letting storylines breath and giving them time to organically evolve. I am not saying they should be dragging things out like The Killing but to have Naomi Campbell’s character take over the company, kill her wife

I gave up on Empire storylines so I just rate the episodes by how often you can see Andre’s tush in those tight pants.

Asking the wrong person. You need to talk to Paul Ryan or Mitch McConnell for budgeting new funds.

The world is still sexist, homophobic, racist and horrible. Without question. But it’s less so than it was fifty years ago. (Although with racism, at least, there has certainly been a lot of forward two steps back one rather than straight unchecked progression.) That didn’t happen because everyone let straight, white

Complaining about “green or purple” people just makes the speaker seem exhausted by diversity. Rather than acknowledging and enjoying real diversity that exists in the real world, she’s tossing in random words to pretend like she cares. It’s dismissive. It’s worse than saying nothing. Yet somehow, it seems to be the

So right on. I feel like on some level when black and brown people are lumped in with these imaginary green/purple/orange/blue people, they’re implying that black and brown people also dont exist.

I gotta tell you, I would care if someone was green or purple. Sick or choking people are something to care about.

One of these days, some person will say some insensitive shit about race, and won’t include the hypothetical green and/or purple people in their sorry-not-sorry, or just not-sorry in this case, response and I’ll think to myself, “Progress!”

purple

Exactly, I was feeling that he was just “Jason” because that was all that needed to be said. Like there’s no need to say fat Jason vs thin Jason because no other Jason is JASON.

Those tears got that child and her family a personal invitation to the White House Easter Egg Roll this year! Sigh. Damn kids have all the luck.

I would settle for a regular appearance on Samantha Bee’s Full Frontal.

And for me to get so upset here, on the Today show, with you guys, means there’s something there.

And Samantha Bee is making a strong showing too. I think she is also hitting hard but could hit harder with more jokes getting at the substance of things.
