No, it’s a bad kids movie. I have two toddlers and have watched countless hours of kids programming over the last four years and I can assure you that not every kids movie or kids tv show is just mindless drivel that’s meant to sell toys.

As a dad to two toddlers I can confirm that there are countless awful kids shows/movies that are only good because they distract your kids for an hour or two and then there are a number of surprisingly decent kids shows/movies that can entertain your kids but also give them a fun story and characters that learn things…

The new movie really feels like we got exactly what you’d expect from your first guess at “Illumination making a Mario movie.” It almost feels like a parody of what a Mario movie would be.

I don’t think it’s a direct comparison to The Last Wish, it’s more a comparison to the fact that there’s hundreds of goofy kid movies/shows that also have good storytelling and can be engaging for people of all ages beyond nostalgia-bait.

It sounds about exactly what I expected between Nintendo’s “find the safest, least risky move possible and somehow go even more safe than that” approach to Mario and choosing to work with Illumination of all studios.

I am also very glad to see it return, as I was delightfully surprised by the first. The Schmicago idea is genius, I think. Schmigadoon was fun and lasted just long enough to mine the setting and move on.

I mean this in the most positive possible way, but I am truly baffled as to how this show got a second season. It feels like a show for like 15 people that exit in the world and I’m one of them.  I am excited to have this back in my rotation.

$70 for at least 30~40 Hours of gameplay is still a better deal then a lot of other entertainment options.

There are two different types of hosts here, and the writers haven’t always done a good job of distinguishing them:

Bernard was a host created to be like Arnold based on Delores’ memories. Similar to how host William was created by Halores based on her memories of the human William. So neither were hybrids like James Delos or Caleb. 

I just had a great idea, rewatch this season but everytime you see the main cast act, understant they themselves have no idea why they are doing what they’re doing or saying what they’re saying. You can easily tell from ed harris’ and tandy newton’s faces.

I'm going with that she gave the body a series of preprogrammed commands for it to carry out when her pearl lost connection, fully remove pearl, stretch out arm, crush pearl. Not too big of a leap of logic.
