I got to drive an E-Type, a Series 1 4.2, around 1989 that the mechanic who restored it was trying to sell my grandfather...top down on a gorgeous late spring day. Being tall, my eyeline was actually right at the windshield header, and my legs were a trifle cramped. I cared not. It was so...visceral. The steering was

I almost bought a Swift GT back in the day (mom gave me the hurt-puppy look because she thought I’d get run over by a truck in it, so was guilted out of doing it), it was a ludicrously fun car to drive. Closest I ever got was my 04 MINI Cooper S...a bit faster, but much bigger (really!), and just about the same amount

Wow...”best car” is such a loaded and vague thing. Best at what? Best single drive? Best ownership experience (which is as much on the dealer(s) as the car)? Best performing? Best luxury?

That’s interesting...my ‘86 VFR doesn’t have self-canceling. Then again, it’s a bit of a hooptie, so maybe it did and it just no longer works.

Some of us never stopped purchasing physical media. I was late to get into streaming, but once I did I’ve found it to be incredibly disappointing. There’s nothing like going to play a song you’re dying to hear only for the player to churn for 30 seconds and come back with ‘the song you are trying to play is no longer

Somehow the word ‘only’ I intended to type escaped...they aren’t ONLY for light, and they are primarily for heat reduction. I’ve seen some of those articles, but I also remember when the company transitioned to those roofs and told all staff about them back in the 90s, and both reasons were cited but primarily the

Also, while it was...rather strange looking (to put it politely)...it was actually a pretty good car. Most of the Edsel models had some pretty interesting innovations, and they were pretty well made.

Pains me to downvote such a lovely, rare, Volvo...but a liar for a lister is a big ‘No Dice’ from me. One of the nice things about BaT and CaB are that they vet the odometer readings...this listing willfully misrepresents the mileage, and is using old pictures. Dishonest.

The lighter panels on the roof aren’t for ‘light’, they are to reduce the heat in the interior of the vehicle. Same reason why school buses have white roofs.

I’m tall with long legs.

This should apply to all the carriers....I had an Amazon package the other day that had aerosol cans in it which, when I opened the package and took them out, were so hot they actually burned my fingers. How they didn’t explode is a mystery to me...but they did lead us to have a conversation about how hot it must be

The night before Thanksgiving we had a minor flood in our basement apartment, when the hot water heater for the unit upstairs leaked...when the plumber was looking into the leak he noted some mold, so the landlady got a service to come in. Long story short, they ripped out the carpet, walls, etc. Mold in the walls

I was on vacation, so missed this when it was ‘live’, but can’t help putting in my $.02.

Sorry, the “huge ass package” has been standard on Vettes since the debut of the C5 in the ‘97 model year, though it was tweaked during the C6 model to just “big ass” status.

My requirements are quite simple, yet unlikely to be met. I’ll buy a new car when it matches the overall, do-nearly-anything-and-do-it-well, capability of my ‘16 Audi S5...and is available with a manual transmission. So I’ll be driving this one for quite a while, I believe.

In 2000, my buddy and I went to the New York Auto Show at Jacob Javitts on press passes that I obtained (due to an ‘underground’ link posted on AudiWorld). We went to the Ford intro and stood right next to Csaba Csere from ‘Car and Driver’. As I had been reading him since I was a wee lad in the early 80s, it was

He was great in “A Bridge Too Far”...and in “Eraser”, too (which does not really deserve to be in the same sentence as that war classic, but oh well).

So, laughing at them and saying, “Huh, ad hominem attacks are the first, and usually only, refuge of a feeble mind...so I’ll just file your response and get feedback from someone I respect.” is not a good plan? Damn, I thought it was.

Came to post Cossie DFV, but was beaten to it...then thought of the engine from the 917, and someone had that already...then thought of....point is, there are a bunch that can be argued here (though DFV wins through ubiquity, longevity, reliability, etc.). I’m going to propose two choices that aren’t so obvious, but

I just want to point out that this (admittedly) utter piece of cr@p is front engine, rear wheel drive, weighs right around 2000lbs, you can actually make them handle, and that a V8 DOES fit in the engine bay. You do the math from those bits of info.
