From Salena Zito in the Washington Post:
The sad thing for me is that I’m finding relief just in seeing where things are settling. Uncertainty freaks me the fuck out. Knowing what horrors are ahead is actually kind of soothing for me because now I *know*.
It’s pretty unfortunate that the best thing someone can say about an appointee is that he is the least detrimental. Hopefully Reince Priebus can be a “moderating” influence.
Their goal will never come close to succeeding, but these most of these guys aren’t exactly logical. Plus, spending most of your day in Mom’s basement polishing your cane and trolling journalists isn’t exactly a recipe for success.
Yeah, you’d think people’s basic survival instincts would kick in. I feel like the room is filling with smoke and Trump voters are saying, “That’s not smoke! We’re just keeping it real!”
Ha, yeah, Reagan does spring to mind. I do think there’s sizable difference between him and Trump, though, in that so far as I can tell Reagan wasn’t a sociopath. Sociopathy and dementia has got to be the worst combination in a president ever.
I hope both sides calm down and stop breaking the law. Racist graffitti can tremendously upset people, and protesters blocking traffic can kill people. I’ve seen protesters blocking ambulances and other people trying to get to a hospital.
It’s not just happening in the US. Brexit and Trump have made racists and fascists around the world braver. This is one of the reasons why the US election impacts on the world at large.
I would like to add that I find it reeeeeaaaaally amusing that people who voted for a man with likely progressive dementia, someone whose fourth grade vocabulary may soon be downgraded to kindergarten level, as he tantrums and pisses his pants, think we should give any thought whatsoever to their opinions. Who the…
Hopefully “Trump’s manic desire to be liked by everyone” leads him to pissing off all of his supporters.
I would include that it’s extremely important not to makeup or exaggerate anything, because all it takes is a couple people crying wolf to get a bunch of other people’s legit problems ignored.
Continue to be try and better person every day. Help all people who need it, treat all people with respect. That’s my plan.
Hasn’t the Obama administration deported more people than any sitting president in history or is that bullshit I read on a meme somewhere?
I can’t believe that enforcing United States federal law is considered a controversy. Are you guys seriously outraged about criminal illegal aliens being deported? No wonder you lost.
Trump really does just go along with whoever he is in the room with currently. On Friday he was backing away from the border wall idea (and on fully repealing the Affordable Healthcare Act) after sitting down to talk with Obama.
Serious question:
Yeah I’m all for whistle-blowing, and it would be fine if the writer did some independent reporting and came to a conclusion different from the police report based on her own research. But it’s clear she just barely skimmed the same news story available to everyone else and decided the police were acting unjustly…
I live in the area and based on all available facts in local news and by people associated with the case (including her own confession), she did make it up. And the local Muslim community is upset with her too since it detracts from real hate crimes which are not exactly rare in Louisiana. This is a really lousy and…
Please watch this and stop with the deplorable shit, this guy is right and im changing my approach from now on.
I am brown and non-American, so I can assure you that I am pretty worried about the current situation and have to take several precautions so as not to draw attention to myself (you know, no beard, always talk in English, etc.). Now that we got that out of the way, there is no reason to believe that people like me…
