There is malice behind those statements. You just don’t see it.

when your hateful rants are so incoherent that people can’t even tell what it is you are hating on (like, i get that you’re angry, but cannot for the life of me gauge from what you wrote just what/who it is you’re angry about/at)—then it’s time to put down the bottle and call your sponsor.
i’ve already seen a bunch of “how can wolf whistling be a hate crime when it’s a compliment which is like the opposite of hate?” not even ironically expressed, either.
Racist speech is inherently hateful and so is sexist speech. This is not difficult.
This American isn’t horrified by it. It’s a shame we have to police peoples behavior like this, but as you said it greatly increases the quality of life for the people who would be affected by that kind of hateful behavior and we should prioritize people’s safety over some assholes “right” to harass and threaten…
As someone who has lived in US, GB is not really behind on women’s issues. In US there is barely any protection against discrimination and protection against harassment, mainly verbally abuse. There is a lot of sexism in UK, but Great Britain does rank ahead of the US in equality of women and which country it better…
Police in UK already are making huge changes by taking sexual harassment and sexual assault more seriously. There are already laws against sexual harassment and assault, but this is about verbal harassment. There are still many problems
It’s not only that they will be convicted of a crime, but that it will be classified as a hate crime. This is brilliant because it highlights how street harassment towards women is not just harmless“flirting”, but comes from a place of deep-seated sexism and hate towards women.
This is a good thing. Overdue, but a good thing.
Did you even read the article? Classifying misogyny as a hate crime doesn’t change the crime — as the article says, there are already laws against harrassment and unwanted touching. What it does is allow police to offer more support to victims.
Whenever men inflict any sort of harm to women, the initial reaction to prevent it is to police women rather than men. This is sexist and needs to stop. Glad to see England is taking a step in the right direction.
Like the article already states this has already been rolled out in Nottingham in UK. My friends who work with the police in that area say that it has been a huge success, for the first women feel empowered to report the sexism that they face. The police has also been given special training to make sure that they do…
Yeah, it’s awful that women are beginning to feel like they can report harassment and have it taken seriously.
Pretty broad
The thing is, I’ve read about men saying shit like this in fiction and in memoirs, both from the 70s. The fiction was Marge Piercy’s “Braided Lives,” where one character’s husband keeps telling her during the birth that she’s feeling “Fear, not pain.” The memoir was by a woman who was a resident physician in the 70s…
Where’s Sean Lennon going to move to? He’s going to Brexit himself from the country over this.
The same week that Italy legalizes public masturbation (which....correct me if I’m wrong....is basically done by guys who want to wack off in front of women).
I believe he would say “ this is sexist against men.” and probably “it’s way to easy for women to cry misogyny these days.”
Can someone ask Sean Lennon how I should feel about this?
