Problem is that many banks don’t offer the chipped debit card yet. Since this is all new for us in the U.S lots of banks are rolling out chipped credit cards first to ease in the tech then later rolling out chipped debit cards.

Many other countries have had this for years (even a decade plus for some), but yes in the U.S this is a new (and very needed) upgrade that has just started rolling out within the last year.
