For me it was the ability to play Game Gear, Neo Geo Pocket Color and Lynx games that was very interesting. All of those systems had pretty bad color screens and/or battery life. This is a much cheaper option than buying the original systems and modding them with LCD screens and battery packs. And a lot less effort.

The only reason I would think about doing it still is I have already modded it with a battery pack and replaced a couple of the commonly bad capacitors. When I did all that there weren’t any good screen replacements. This is definitely a much more portable size and form than the Game Gear though.
