Sure, there are people who may not understand things and need them explained. I’m sure there are people who are well intentioned who think gay people would be offended to be called queer. But in general you can’t just categorically decide something isn’t racist because it seems dumb to you.

Racism isn’t a monolith. We can’t just categorically decide what will or will not offend people on behalf of them. It’s important to be cognizant that this is an inherently subjective world- we all perceive things differently. So the question can’t be decided by a majority.
