Add this to the ever-mounting evidence that the only interesting thing about Lalas is that he used to have crazy hair.

In a league, the best team wins, period. Plus, there’s cups, including the Champions League, to open the possibility for surprises. Also, the league model, including with relegation and the cups, allows for different kinds of success other than winning the main title.

I’m subscribed to Arsenal Fan TV for the entertainment value. And I have to say that I'm awaiting TY and Claudes reaction, I'm assuming they didn't travel to Baku. I'm taking bets as to whether Claude will murder Ty, after Ty blames the loss on the stadium.

“But can he do it on a Wednesday night in the Caucasus?” Arsenal should sell his mopey ass to Bursaspor for two hundred quid and a nice wool rug.

Lets add PEA to that missing poster. I guess the little known gabon/azerbaijan conflict kept him from having a shot on goal.

He’s not wrong, though.

That fucking guy. A chance to prove, definitively, that he’s worth the gobs of money being funneled into his bank account and he wanders around the pitch for however many minutes doing an impersonation of a drunk hobo amiably bumbling around trying to catch a dollar caught by the breeze.

If seen, pls inform Baku police:

Is the bottom Barca player in my screenshot calling for offsides?? On a corner???

I agree, even though I don’t see a way around VAR in football. Would be nice if it was more automated to cut down on the ‘standing around while someone watches something’ time.

This isn’t an argument that fairness isn’t important — that’s a strawman you’ve created.

Fun as it is to see City lose in the UCL again, I do agree. It isn’t good entertainment when we do this.

VAR, and all video replay review, is awful. The only technological assistance that actually makes any sense, because it is instantaneous, are the Hawkeye system in tennis that calls balls hit out of bounds, and the wristband alert system in soccer that alerts the referee when the ball has crossed into the goal.

Way too close to call and overturn. Impossible to tell for sure from any of the angles.

Both legs actually they were much better than Real. But Courtois should’ve done better on that free kick. He was caught in no man’s land.

Are there two defenders between the attackers and the goal? Who is to say?

VAR is great if only used for penalties. It’s used for offsides though, which is already arbitrary, if they reduced it to just penalties then it positives absolutely outweigh negatives.

I’m not English, but take for example Lampard’s goal in the 2010 WC. The entire complexion of the game and maybe that tournament changed because there was no video replay. That’s not turning art into math - that’s getting important stuff right.

1) You’re an idiot. Have you watched the NFL go down the rabbit hole of “what is a catch”? Do you want that level of ridiculousness to go into every single offside decision?

Except:
