Even if it is making them in EXE format, it's still pretty nice. I'm sure there are a few people on lifehacker using Dropbox so it's not like it's that big a deal to just pop the EXE in there and send the link via email for some quick video action.

@PasBesoin: I use it every single day actually. Works wonders because my laptop loves to freeze loading stuff up (plug-ins and the like) when I launch Outlook 2007. Process Tamer throttles it back automatically for me so that I can actually do other things while it's loading in the background.

I actually can't stand having anything on my desktop as far as icons go. I just want a nice background (I usually pick up something from [www.vladstudio.com] I used to use docks but got tired of those.

@Norcross: Every good one I've run across requires a virtual driver install, so no, never seen a portable one. With Total Commander, I install the free driver that they offer with their Virtual Disk [free] add-on before shooting out an image (as an example) and then any machine I visit has "good enough" capabilities…

@askj113: Still have yet to meet a reliable portable one. Since most of them require a virtual driver install, they'll never be truly portable unless the driver is already installed. If you consider that to be portable, then there are already portable apps out there that do [pretty much] the same thing.

For those of you talking about Sandboxie and VM's - not everyone uses either one of those apps in a foolproof, effective manner.

I'll second PStart for the other recommended piece of software. I simply don't like the app from [Portableapps.com] and don't use it. I just don't like it. Pstart is nice and simple and I can run multiple instances of it which works out fantastic for me.

@pdok: That's really a manual process you should do yourself. I understand the conveniences of not having to do it yourself, but with MSI installers you might want 1 to interact differently than another one.
