When you’re at the top, your response to news gone bad is all you can do - since, it’s impossible to do anything else (like police every municipality personally.)
I admit, I’m a fan of Weber’s Honor Harrington series, even all the politics and economics stuff. Normally, that’s the present reflected in future, and now I’ve got the fiction future reflected in the present.
Sgt. York, is that you?
Gosh I hate the wrangling and arguments of what in the end is just common sense.
I’ve always been partial to the title on a card I got once from a company so-called CEO: “Speaker To Bankers”
So, lessee. Poop requires sphincter functions, fear of dying tightens sphincter operations, ergo no pooping in a fight?
Tako (octopus) is in fact, delicious. Turkey is in fact delicious. The only problem is they need to be cooked separately (due to cooking coefficients) and not together, as shown.
Oh my goodness. We have wild chickens here on Kauai (like, a lot of them) and we’ve only ever been able to eat them after boiling with a green papaya. (That’s not strictly true, you can eat them, it’s just a nasty experience. Like chicken gum, or something.) We only take the ones that are mean or can’t be run off,…
Dunno if you like military science fiction, but in Weber’s “March to the Stars” [Empire of Man series] there’s the Armagh’s Church of Satan which gets an explanation. Turns out, it simply is the opposition to evil doing “good” organizations and now they have to be good to be in opposition.
There was one lesson I learned from Bush II’s behavior (probably at the behest of his advisors) and it seems to be applicable now. Why the other side hasn’t been able to see it, I dunno. It’s:
“Drill, Baby, Drill?”
I’d love a followup article to this - the people that are doing this work. I’ll bet there’s more than the normal amount of [ex manufactering ops] grey hairs working there. Younglings to tear it apart, and oldlings to look and analyze. Would be totally interested in an article that followed the people perspective of…
Total Agreement.
Eagles are assholes.
No love for xoab.us? Thing I liked about them was the barcode in the top - take a picture, email it, they send you moar. They were also a successful kickstarter.

Hard work responding to all this, but “yay?”
Yeah - you hit a favorite theme of mine. If someone can fit “the culture” of the team, the boss, the division, the company - given that they are smart already and flexible, it means a win.
Absolutely. It took me a while but after hubdreds of tech hires, paper really wasn’t worth much.
I remember a stint supporting our machines at Ford Aerospace - faraday tanks, red rotating lights indicating unclean (non-cleared) personnel in the facility, etc. They had problems, we were there to solve them, but they couldn’t tell us what it was. So they used metaphors and similes to show the problems which we then…
