I think the Apple version of that line is "the customer is always [treated] right", modulo yer business. The generic service rule that feeds this is "treat the customer (you want) like they expect to be treated", which is different from the golden rule.

Consider this. We opened offices in formerly communist countries with top notch technical people. We wanted to pay them cheaper than the US, but very much higher pay than they were getting for their work. We were begged not to do it by community leaders, political leaders, and in the end, the workers themselves.

Dude, I got it. *And* the grain grinding attachment. My Kitchen Aid and I.. well.. it's a love story of epic proportions.

I'd argue that they can't, and wouldn't. It's integral to all development and manipulation of the OS below the UI line. Like trying to contemplate removal of regedit on windows machines. Can't see it happening.

The early pioneers of flight would take their contraptions to the cliff edge, and with much fanfare, throw themselves off. Initially, they were flying. Sure the ground was coming up fast, but hey, they just needed to pedal a little harder. It was working!

"Urban Plankflow." The free running form of planking.

I had to take mine apart the other day, and there is *a lot* of lube in that head piece. It took me longer to ..umm... fix it, than I thought it would.

"sanctimonious asshats" That's sooo interesting that you'd use that phrase.

This picture really is striking, if nothing else, for all the little things that go off in my head when I look at it.

You forgot the "Arrrrr."

Not sure that's the same thing. A 10% forecast growth rate can always, in retrospect, be deemed to be exuberant and so be a "false" piece of the pie that makes any equation not work. True enough.

You nailed it in my opinion. From what I can tell, the law is "what is boldly asserted and plausibly maintained."

Actually, I think the sub areas of Hawaii constitute a little more than normal subdivisions. Considering the 3000+ meter, shark infested deep waters between the "counties".

Thanks for that, I didn't know about it before. Airstream trailer meets pontoon.

I'll second that. The blog doesn't belong to me, it belongs to them. I play by their rules (which, admittedly, are sometimes hard to nail down at times) or I can leave. I don't have a "right" to be here, it's a "privilege" and I have no problem with playing by the(ir) rules. The sad thing to my mind is that some

I think I saw this guy at the NIST. He's the standard reference for the Opposite Energy of Eeyore.

That's an unenlightened parent issue, not a cow flop issue. You can make castles with those things, and burn them (dried out) and use them for traps for your friends, and.. well, the list is really endless.

I passed my Lego's from 67' bought in Germany to my kids. The rubber in the tires was a little worn, but still usable. After they got through those, they went to another family with a new crop of kids. Only my hard rock maple blocks have survived like those things.

Totally. After we mow the back 4, the kids sometimes make debris huts and sleep in them. One time they got to a multi room contraption with a loft with the addition of tree trimmings and twine. I was so proud.

And don't forget the parrot fish in tropical areas. A lot of that beautiful beach sand has mostly passed through their anuses (up to a ton of sand per year per fish.)
